The European Super Shirt

A piece that represents every single country

The inimitable Dirk Schönberger has been making bespoke jerseys for Sepp since 2002. An ardent believer in the European ideal, Schönberger has created a piece that represents every country competing at this summer’s tournament. The super shirt embodies the very concept of European inclusivity and stands antithetical to the infamous European Super League, which was founded on greed. “I love the idea that this Euro will not have one but many host countries. Europe is my home, having lived in Italy, France, Belgium and now Berlin. This experience made me a big fan of the European community where we can all embrace and benefit from different cultures. After centuries of a turbulent history, we can finally live together peacefullyand freely. I believe in the power that the whole will always be greater than the sum of its parts. My jersey is not a real sports shirt but the idea of a flag wrapped and draped around a body. It’s not a functional football jersey, but more of a symbol made from woven satin ribbons of the Euro 2020 countries’ flags.”—Dirk Schönberger
